Berthier St Etienne Mle 1916 Rifle

Here is a French Berthier Mle 1916 rifle chambered in 8mm Lebel.  The rifle is solid with no cracks but one arsenal? repair to the underside wrist as shown. The butt looks like it probably had a rubber pad on it at some point and left some residue on the wood that should clean off. Mismatched bolt and receiver, no import mark and good rifling but dark bore.
